| LANGKAWI ELEPHANT ADVENTURES | |
| Did you know that elephants were once part of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage? In fact, elephants were once found in royal stables; paraded in ceremonies; provided transportation; worked on farms; and were even a symbol of wealth. However, the elephants disappeared from Malaysia's culture after World War II leaving many–Malaysians included–that elephants were commonplace to the neighbors to the north. | |
| Since 2006, Langkawi Elephant Adventures has been offering elephant rides and other interactive programs involving our elephant at the Oriental Village. Our resident elephant––Lasah––was acquired from a stillborn elephant park in Johor and has also featured in animal and magic shows in Johor, Malacca and Genting. He was also cast alongside a dozen other elephants for the movie Anna & the King that was filmed 1998. | |

| FALCONRY ENCOUNTERS––LANDING SOON ON LANGKAWI | |
| Falcons have been flown since the start of civilization making falconry an art that is more than 10,000 years old. Falconry, however, has never made so much a ripple in Malaysia. Falconry is not illegal, per se, but the ownership of Malaysian birds of prey is near impossible, making falconry an unlikely sport in Malaysia. | |
| For 2009, Animal Adventures Malaysia is introducing free-flying birds of prey on Langkawi from April 2009. To date, we have acquired White-bellied Sea Eagles and Brahminy Kites––the eagle made famous by Langkawi Island. | |
